Water pump

Pump Usage and Lifespan

While our pumps can operate continuously, we've found that constant operation significantly shortens their lifespan and is not necessary with our Deep Flow Technique (DFT) design. Our testing shows that pumps running full-time typically last for over 6 months.

Vulnerability to Low Water Conditions

Pumps are particularly susceptible to damage when they run in low water conditions. If the water level is too low for the pump to function effectively, it runs empty, making a louder noise. This state can cause the pump to fail in just a few hours, especially if it's set to operate 24/7. Due to the mechanical nature of the water pump, any wear and tear will accumulate and eventually cause the pump to fail. So please ensure refill the system more frequently rather than wait till it reaches the bottom. It also helps plants grow better by maintaining a consistent nutrient condition.

Recommended Pump Schedule

To maximize the pump's lifespan and prevent it from running empty, we recommend adopting official grow templates pump schedules, or manually setting the pump to turn on for approximately 15 minutes every 4, 3, or 2 hours, depending on whether your plants are in the seedling, vegetative, flowering, or fruiting stages, respectively. This scheduling not only prolongs the pump's life but also optimizes your grow kit's efficiency. It also prevents bad overflow situations when the water flow is blocked.

Impact on Power Strip Relays

While frequent on/off cycles might reduce the lifespan of the relays in the power strip, the benefit to the pump's longevity outweighs this factor. We advise following the above schedule for optimal pump usage.
