Frequently Asked Questions

Water Leak

How to fill and check for water leaks?

Ensure the Grow Kit is placed on non-wood floors or in areas where leaks wouldn't cause damage.

  1. Fill the primary grow container reservoir with 5 gallons (19 liters) of water up to the maximum line.
  2. Turn on the pump by directly connecting it to an outlet or toggling it on through the power strip within the app.
  3. Add more water until it is enough to flow back down to the Primary Grow Container. There is no need to fill the system completely full for this test.
  4. Run the test for a minimum of 15 minutes and check the following positions for leaks:
    • The bottom of the Water Level Window;
    • Top and bottom of the Feed Columns;
    • Top and bottom of the Drain Columns;
    • Every drain port on the Primary Grow Container and Secondary Grow Containers.

How to fix water leaks?

Most leaking happens on the top end of the feed (drain) column.

  1. Make sure the feed column's rubber gasket is completely inserted. If the gaskets come out a little, pull them out, and use a little vegetable oil to lubricate the gasket to make the installation back to the feed column easier. And you can refer to this video to assemble the feed column.
  2. Double-check the leaking feed (drain) column, and check the edge rim to see if the cut is smooth at the end.
  3. And then when you install the grow container, firmly press it down at all corners while spinning the column a little to ensure everything goes in completely.
  4. If you still see very little water seep issue around the feed column, you can also use the PTFE tape (plumbing tape) to roll 2 rounds around the top end of the feed column. This will ensure the complete seal. (most likely not needed, but if the water keeps seeping from it, just use the PTFE tape if you have some at home).
  5. Before reinstalling the grow lights back, test the water circulation (keep the pump on for an hour) to see if the water still slowly seeps out.

If the water seeping has happened for a while, it may have some salt build up in the gap. Make sure you clean the feed (drain) slots at the bottom of the grow container and the feed (drain) column. To remove the salt build up around the column, you can use the corner cover as the scraper.

Parts

Water Pump Empty Spin

Water pump are prone to damage from empty spin. If the water level is too low, the pump won't be able to circulate water. Air entering the pump will prevent it from functioning properly, even after refilling with water. To fix this issue, first turn off the pump and refill water at the bottom grow container. Then restart the pump; it should operate as expected.
